Head to app.mokont.com and click Get Started Free. Enter your name, email, and a password — that's it. No credit card required. You'll be invoicing in under two minutes.
No. MoKont works whether you're VAT-registered or not. If you're not yet registered with the MRA, simply leave the VAT number field blank. When you do register, add your VAT number in Settings and it will appear on all future invoices automatically.
Yes. MoKont is fully responsive and works in Safari and Chrome on any device. On iPhone, tap the Share icon in Safari and choose Add to Home Screen — it opens like a native app with no App Store download needed.
Invoicing
Yes. MoKont supports multi-currency invoicing. When creating an invoice, select the currency from the dropdown. VAT calculations still follow MRA rules where applicable.
MoKont assigns sequential invoice numbers automatically (INV-001, INV-002, etc.). Sequential numbering is what the MRA expects to see in an audit, and MoKont handles it for you without any manual tracking.
From any saved invoice, click the Email button to send a professional email with the invoice attached as a PDF. Your client receives it directly — no extra tools needed. You can also download the PDF and send it via WhatsApp, Google Drive, or any channel you prefer.
VAT & Tax
MoKont automatically applies the standard Mauritius VAT rate of 15% to taxable line items. The subtotal, VAT amount, and total are clearly separated on every invoice — exactly as the MRA requires.
Yes. Certain professions in Mauritius — including engineers, architects, lawyers, accountants, and consultants — must register for VAT with the MRA regardless of their turnover. If you're in one of these fields, you should be VAT-registered from day one. MoKont will display your VAT number and charge 15% on all applicable invoices once it's in your profile. Not sure if your profession qualifies? Check the full VAT guide.
MoKont shows an estimated income tax figure on every invoice — currently calculated at 15% on your pre-VAT subtotal. This is a rough guide to help you set aside the right amount. It is not a formal tax assessment. For your actual income tax return, always consult a qualified accountant.
VAT returns are due 20 days after the end of each quarter. If you file and pay electronically via MRA's e-services portal, you get an extra 10 days: Q1 (Jan–Mar) due 20 April (30 April if e-filing) · Q2 (Apr–Jun) due 20 July (31 July) · Q3 (Jul–Sep) due 20 October (31 October) · Q4 (Oct–Dec) due 20 January (31 January). Late filing attracts penalties of Rs. 2,000 per month up to Rs. 20,000, plus 10% on unpaid tax and 1% monthly interest. Source: MRA.mu.
Plans & Billing
The Free plan gives you everything you need to get started — 5 invoices per month, 5 saved clients, VAT calculations, PDF invoices, and QR code payments. Pro removes all limits and adds VAT summary reports, Excel export, custom branding on invoices, and priority support.

No. Your invoice history and client data remain accessible. If you exceed the Free plan limits after downgrading (e.g. more than 5 clients), existing records are preserved — you just won't be able to add new ones until you're within the limit or upgrade again.
Security & Privacy
Yes. MoKont is powered by Supabase — a secure, encrypted cloud database with automatic backups. Your data is protected with row-level security, which means only you can access your invoices and client records. We do not sell or share your data with third parties. MoKont complies with the Data Protection Act 2017 (Mauritius).
